The process of making Slab Pottery is actually fairly simple. First you start with regular clay which is wet and can be played with to create things. You can use water to make the clay more elasticity so its easier to play with. After you create your shape you can make it your own with different textures. Textures are impressions in the clay that can be different styles and designs. Next you leave the clay to dry to become leather hard, which is still moist but dryer clay. After letting the clay sit for a long time it becomes bone dry and white because its so dry. Then it becomes greenware where its ready to be fired in the kiln. The kiln is where you fire the clay for it to become hard and bisque. After this it can not become clay again. Lastly you put glaze on the bisque, which makes it colorful and have a glassy look. With the glaze on you fire it one more time to get the final pottery product.
