I'm not really sure how I came up with my idea but once I started drawing it sort of just came to me. I really liked how it came out so I'm glad that I thought of this idea. I used the same technique as I did for the shaded hand section because it really helped make it look better. I used a lot of shading within the hands to make it look more realistic. My favorite part of this artwork is how it came out. I didn't expect it to come out as well as it did and I'm happy with the result. I don't really have a least favorite part.
This drawing was very difficult for me. I don't like drawing myself and it was hard to make everything symmetrical. Using the mirror helped but at the same time didn't help a lot. It helped to see what my face actually looks like instead of just from memory but it still was hard looking back and forth and getting it right. Symbol system is the thing in your brain that automatically thinks of how to do something without taking in perspective or how it would look from different places or angels.
I very much liked doing this. We took our favorite hand drawing from before with the view finder drawings. We then drew what we saw with actual paper and pencil. We also used techniques with shading to make it look more real looking. The simple grid aids in transferring the picture because it helps line up where the parts of the picture is. It helps reflect the picture more easily onto the new paper. The tools that make it look 3D is the tortillions and darker pencils that help with shading. Also a chart of black, lightest to darkest helping create the shadows.
I once again enjoyed this project too. It was very creative and fun to come up with different hand poses to draw. We had to use a view finder and plastic with our hand on the other side posed to do it. We then traced in sharpie every line and part of our hand we could see. After we took it out and looked at it. The hard part about transferring a 3D image to a 2D paper is there on different planes. They both will look different but are suppose to look similar. Picture planes is in perspective, the imaginary plane corresponding to the surface of a picture, perpendicular to the viewer's line of sight. Drawing is a picture or diagram made with a pencil, pen, or crayon rather than paint, especially one drawn in monochrome.
I enjoyed this project as well. We had to look at our hand and draw what we saw, without looking at the paper at all. After we were done drawing every line and curve we looked at the paper. It was interesting to see how messy and cool they turned out to be. This is important to learning how to draw because it helps you with the left and right side of your brain. While looking only at your hand but not making or thinking of the picture on your paper helps.
I loved this project a lot. Definitely one of my favorites so far this year. We started out not knowing at all what it was and just saw lines and curves that we drew ourselves which made it easier to just draw it instead of making up images in our mind. We did this all upside down and slowly moved down the picture small parts at a time. At the end we turned it around and saw what the picture actually was. I believe mine came out very well considering its a drawing done by Picasso. My line style is going light then going over the line darker once I think its what it should be.
To me the block painting was one of my favorite projects. Using the carving tools (v-tool and u-tool) and shaping the linoleum block. I did many designs but my best was the tiny elephant. I love elephants and I was inspired by tattoos i've seen of elephants. Using brayer and ink to print the pattern onto paper was fun too. I love how it came out and loved creating patterns onto the colorful papers.
R-mode is the creative and thinking side of your brain and L-mode is the logistics and number side of your brain. R-mode is preferable for artists because using the R-mode connects you with more creative thinking for art projects and drawings. The vase face for me was pretty difficult. First we watched a video with Betty Edwards talking about it then did it ourselves. It was harder when people were talking and easier to focus and do it when it was silent. It was very challenging but overall I liked it.
